My Ultimate Cozy Night In

My ultimate cozy night in starts with that wonderful feeling of knowing I’m home for the evening. I can put my things down, get comfortable, and let the day settle.

First comes a cozy hoodie and the most comfortable clothes I can find. After a day of teaching, answering questions, and moving from one responsibility to the next, changing clothes feels like my cue to relax.

Then I set the mood. Soft lighting, a cozy blanket, and a comfortable spot on the couch can make an ordinary evening feel special. During fall, the pumpkins and warm colors around my home add a little extra comfort.

A warm cup of herbal tea belongs in the picture, too. I love the idea of sipping it slowly while choosing something to watch. A favorite movie or a few episodes of a good show would be just enough entertainment for the evening.

I’d keep something easy to snack on nearby and put my phone aside for a while. It’s tempting to scroll through the whole night, but sometimes I want to enjoy what’s right in front of me.

If I feel inspired, I might write a little—capture a thought for my blog or reflect on something that’s been on my mind. If I’m tired, the writing can wait. I’m learning that an evening doesn’t have to be productive to be well spent.

What makes the night feel cozy is being able to follow my own pace. I can watch another episode, sit quietly with my tea, or head to bed early. There’s comfort in those small choices.

My ultimate cozy night in is a warm drink, a soft blanket, my favorite hoodie, and time to enjoy my own company. By bedtime, I want to feel rested, comfortable, and glad I gave myself the evening.
